WILLIAM L. HATHAWAY
OXFORD – William L. Hathaway, 84 of Oxford passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2014 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was born on October 26, 1930 in Greene a son of the late Walter and Myrtle (Johnson) Hathaway. In July of 1957 he married Anne Malley, who survives.
Besides his wife, Anne, he is survived by his children, William F. Hathaway of Winterset, IA, Sheila Hathaway of Binghamton, Richard Hathaway of Oxford, Brian and Ruth Hathaway of Vermont, Mark Hathaway of Vermont, and Cheryl and Mark Parks of Smithville Flats, NY. Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive and his special friend, Roger Barrows. He was predeceased by his brothers, Merlin, Eugene, and Francis and his sisters, Mildred and Edith.
Bill served in the US Army for 21 years and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He served as a custodian at Oxford Academy and Central School and the City of Norwich. He was a member of the Lake Gerry Association. He was known for his love of having coffee mornings at Mr. Chubb’s in Oxford. He loved auto racing, building things and helping his friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY with Richard Howard officiating. Burial will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
