Jean Davis


SMYRNA – Jean B. Davis, 72, of Davis Road, passed away Frieday, Aug. 14, 2009 at her home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1936 in the Town of Lebanon, a daughter of John and Jannette Lodar Bierce. She received her early education in Randallsville and was a graduating member of Hamilton High School’s Class of “54”. The next two years were spent attending Morrisville Nursing College, where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1956. On May 16, 1958, Jean married Chester O. Davis in Randallsville. Together, they operated their dairy farm the Davis Family Farm in Smyrna. Jean also worked as a LPN at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Smyrna. She was also a member of the Smyrna Knitting Party; the James Madison Chapter D.A.R., and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Chester; her children, Timothy and Patti Davis of Smyrna; Terri and Dale Knochenmus of Sherburne; Penny Davis-Smith and Robert L. Smith of Norwich; her twin sister and a brother-in-law, Joan and Truman Doran of Rochester; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Bierce of Clifton Park; her grandchildren, Stacey Davis of Smyrna, Kyle and Britney Davis, of Smyrna, Kerri Smith and Brandon Smith, both of Norwich;  a  great-grandchild, Landen Davis; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bierce of Bowling Green, Kent.; a brother-in-law, Ronald Faulkner of San Diego, Calif.; and an uncle, Frank Russock of Eaton, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Judy Faulkner and a brother, John “Jack” Bierce.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
