GREENVILLE, SC – Joyce Arlene Ryan, 78, of 8 Vicki Circle, Greenville died peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 15, 2009 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born in Hamden, New York she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Josie Gray. Joyce was predeceased by her sisters Geraldine Gray and Dorothy Gray Smith.
Joyce was a 1948 graduate of Delaware Academy in Delhi. She was retired after 18 years of service with Sears. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Jim and her son Mike of the home and her daughter Cathy Windell of Little River, S.C. and three grandchildren she adored and loved: Ryan, Scott and Joey Windell also of Little River, SC. She is also survived by her brother Ronald and his wife Joan of Sneeds Ferry, NC, her brother-in-law Tom Ryan of New York and his wife Joyce, brother-in-law Francis Ryan of the USA and nieces and nephews in New York and North Carolina.
She was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to the Cancer Center of Greenville and the caring staff at St. Francis Hospital who comforted her in her final days.
