EVELYN M. SANDERSON
SHERBURNE – Evelyn May Parry Sanderson, 91, formerly of Knapp St., passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Norwich Rehab & Nursing Center in Norwich.
She was born January 24, 1924 in Little Falls, the daughter of Harold and Lillian Bemis Parry and received her education in Columbus Quarter and New Berlin schools. On June 12, 1943, Evelyn married George W. Sanderson in the Columbus Quarter Baptist Church. He predeceased her on December 24, 2001. Evelyn lived in Smyrna for many years prior to moving to Sherburne. She worked at Standard Brands in Sherburne, and later for Proctor & Gamble in Norwich until her retirement. She loved camping at the Lebanon Reservoir in the summers and spending winters in St. Cloud, Florida. She enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling with her husband, sister-in-law, and special friends, and baking pies for the Smyrna Band concerts. She loved music, especially the Lawrence Welk Show and Music in the Park in Sherburne. Known as Mom, Gram, GG and Aunt Ev to her family, her smile, hard work and gentle ways made her a special person who will be missed by all.
Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Smyrna; a 50-year member and Past Noble Grand of the Madinango Rebekah Lodge #353 of Earlville.
Surviving are her children, Diane and David Bensley, Earlville; Debra Sanderson, Norwich; Dean and Patricia Sanderson, Towanda, PA; grandchildren, Christopher (Kennie) Sanderson, Apache Junction, AZ; Edward Sanderson, Albany; Wayne (Julie) Bensley, Alfred Station, NY; Wendy (Chuck) VanSteinburg, St. Inigoes, MD; Jeff (Angie) Sanderson, Athens, PA; Karen (Patrick) Grant, Annville, PA; great-grandchildren, Alex, Allexus, Jennifer, Samuel, Derrick, Abigail, Hailey, Emma and Jackson; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Furness, Waterville; Barbara Parry, Smyrna; Carolyn Parry, Norwich; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, David; grandson, Brian Thomas, and two brothers, Harold, Jr. and Roger Parry; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Parry.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, March 14, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St, Sherburne.
Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8pm.
