HOWARD E. CUYLE
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Howard E. Cuyle, 90, of South New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly, March 26, 2015, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Howard was born in Masonville, NY on January 24, 1925 the son of William and Bernice (McDonald) Cuyle. He grew up in the Masonville area where he attended the local school. On August 12, 1951 in Trout Creek he married Anna Dean who survives.
Howard was a dairy farmer all of his life as well as a hard worker which came with the operation of the farm. He and family operated their farm in No. Guilford from 1958 until 1990. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. In his later years, he enjoyed late summer vacations to the cottage in Maine where he would sit on the porch and listen to the clang of the bell bouy and the gentle rush of the ocean waves.
Howard is survived by his wife Anna of South New Berlin, his children and their spouses: Gerald Cuyle and wife Brenda of Norwich, Donna Cuyle of Oxford, Diane Gardner and husband Harold of Norwich, Sandra Lent and husband Rusty of Hampton, VA, Susan Evans and husband Neal of Utica, Lori Ericksen and husband Herman of Norwich and Lisa Castle and husband Michael of Bainbridge, his 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Guerra and husband Stephen of Miami, FL, Michael Lent and wife Barb of Rapid City, SD, Kimberly Hammonds and husband Jair of Camillus, NY, Christine Hungerford and husband Homer of St. Albans, VT, Scott Downey and wife Allison of Penfield, NY, Ryan Downey of Norwich, Matthew Evans of Utica, Zachary Cuyle of Norwich, Courtney Ericksen of Norwich, Lindsey Castle of Bainbridge, Benjamin Ericksen of Norwich and Jonathan Castle of Bainbridge. Also surviving are his 4 great grandchildren Elijah Hammonds of Camillus, NY, Malcolm Carpenter of Rapid City, SD, Emma Lent of Rapid City, SD and Lillian Hungerford of St. Albans, VT, his sister Laura Alger of FL as well as many nieces and nephews.
Howard was predeceased by his parents William and Bernice (McDonald) Cuyle, his daughter Darlene Marie Cuyle, his sister Dorothy Ward and his son-in-law William Golden.
A funeral service for Howard will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 2:00 pm from the United Church of Oxford. The Rev. Allen Lang, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton.
