OLIVE DAWN DAVIS
NORWICH – Olive Dawn Davis, 88, of Norwich, passed away Monday afternoon, April 6, 2015, at the Bassett Hospital of Cooperstown.
Dawn was born January 23, 1927 in Oneida, NY the daughter of Harold L. and Alice C. (Snyder) Ellis. She attended school in Sherburne and on November 25, 1943 in Sherburne she married Rodney L. Davis who passed away January 4, 2003. Over the years she has worked for the Utica Knitting Mill, the Fishline factory in Norwich, had cleaned homes for several area families but her main “job” was raising and caring for her family.
Dawn came to the Norwich area in 1952 and was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness, Norwich Congregation for many years. She had a knack of teasing her friends which was all in fun.
Dawn is survived by her children; Michael Davis and wife Donna of Norwich, Gary Davis and wife Carol of Sidney, James Davis of Eaton, Wendy Hackett and husband Terry of Guilford, her sisters Alta Collins and husband John of Sherburne, Dorothy Cunningham of Solon, OH, Carol St. Peter and husband Eldaige (Pete) of Sherburne and her brothers Kenneth Ellis and fiancé Sharleen of Clarks Mills. Also surviving are her grandchildren Mark Davis and wife Sonya, Eric Davis, Yahna Caron and fiancé Mike, Cary Davis and wife Renee, Trever Hackett, Kollin Hackett, Gavin Hackett and 7 great grandchildren . Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her husband Rodney, Dawn was predeceased by her sister Beverly Ellis and brothers Rickman and Clifford Borchardt.
A service for Dawn will be held on Sunday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. from the Jehovah’s Witness, Kingdom Hall, Norwich Congregation. There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Hamilton.
