RICHARD P. JAYCOX SR.
NORWICH – Richard Paul Jaycox, Sr., 89, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2015, at the New York State Veterans Home of Oxford.
Dick was born in Norwich on May 20, 1925 the son of Paul and Bertha (Pickett) Jaycox. He grew up in Kirk where he attended the local school. In January of 1944 entered the United States Navy serving his country until his honorable discharge in April of 1946. In January of 1949 he reenlisted into the United States Army where he served until his discharge in of September of 1952. Dick worked for over 20 years for the City of Norwich and retired as Superintendent of the Parks Dept. Not a man to sit idle, he gained employment with the Norwich City Schools working on the building and grounds.
Dick was a member of the Maydole Fire Company for many years. He also enjoyed his model trains, camping and fishing.
Dick is survived by his children; Mary Lou Presnell and husband Bruce of North Norwich, Richard P. Jaycox, Jr. and wife Lotta of Norwich, Edward Jaycox of South Plymouth, his brothers Ronald Jaycox of Norwich and John Jaycox of Gretna. LA. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Dick was predeceased by his brother Warren.
Private funeral services for Dick will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
