NORWICH – Rose Marie “Rosie” Satterlee, 66, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at home with her family around her.
Rosie was born on March 7, 1949 in Norwich the daughter of John M. and Gertrude (Banks) Satterlee. She resided in Norwich throughout her life and attended the Preston school until 1965. Rosie worked at the ARC’s Community Workshop from it’s inception, then attended their Day Habilitation Program until she retired in 2013. While at the ARC, Rosie loved going swimming, bowling and on numerous outings with her friends. She was an active participant in their bell choir which performed for many community establishments during the holidays. She enjoyed performing in the Day Habilitation’s plays where she was always a bride, never a bridesmaid. She especially loved attending the annual Prom, and of course, being the Prom Queen.
Rosie was a friendly, outgoing, kind and gentle soul who loved being with family and friends. She had a knack of making everyone feel special and could always make you smile. She enjoyed babies, dogs, watching television, music, lots of dancing and was never seen without a deck of cards.
Rosie was predeceased by her parents John and Gertrude (Banks) Satterlee. Following the death of her parents, Rosie lived with her sister Betty Combes.
Rosie is survived by her siblings: Katherine Cummings, Mary and Edward Phetteplace, Virginia Carney, Leona ManWarren, Herbert and Cheryl Satterlee, Betty and John Combes, Josephine and Harry Warner and Becky and Dick Hagenbuch. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as the many friends she met along the way.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
PRIVATE funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the South Side Cemetery of Plymouth.
