WILLIAM J. RYAN
NORWICH – William J. Ryan, 85, of Norwich passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, in the New York State Veterans Home of Oxford.
Bill was born in Troy the son of William P. and Ruth V. Fagan Ryan. He was educated at the former St. Patrick’s School in Troy and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute. On January 1, 1950 in Troy he married Geraldine Seith who survives.
Bill was retired from Victory Markets where he was employed as a buyer. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served for 9 years. He has made his home in Norwich for the past 32 years.
Bill is survived by his wife Geraldine of Norwich, his brother Richard M. Ryan and wife Ann of Rensselaer and his sister-in-law Mary Ryan of Stillwater. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Bill was predeceased by his infant son William J. Ryan Jr. as well as a brother James Ryan.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Wednesday at 11:15 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32) Waterford and at noon from St. Augustine’s Church Lansingburgh. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9-11 a.m.
A memorial Mass for Bill will be held at a later date from St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church of Norwich.
