DOROTHY MATTESON
Dorothy Winton Matteson, 95, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2015. Born on December 23, 1919 in Columbus to Eva and Arthur Winton, She was one of ten children. United in marriage to Willis R. Matteson on September 22, 1946 who predeceased her in 1995.
She had a very strong faith in God and was an active member of Columbus Community Church since March 1952. For many years she was a Sunday School teacher, an ardent member of the Columbus Ladies Aid, and a faithful participant in the monthly luncheons of Elder Kin in The Whitney House. Dorothy was a member of the Eastern Star, and presided as Matron in 1970.
She is survived by her two sons, Byron and Martha of Maryland, Bernard and Jeanna of Florida and four grandchildren, Sherry of Texas, Scott of Rome, Shayne of Maryland, and Shilo of Florida, and nine great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Harding Nursing Home in Waterville NY for their care and compassion.
Arrangements are being made by Dakin Funeral home in New Berlin, NY. Funeral services are set for May 16, 2015, 11 a.m. in the Columbus Community Church. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin NY. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be served by the Good Neighbors in the Whitney House.
