EVON NELSON
NORWICH – Evon “Bonnie” C. (Baker) Nelson, 73, of Norwich, NY, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bonnie was born in Cortland, NY on May 8, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Cotanch Baker. She was a 1961 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and retired from NBT Bank, Norwich, after several years of dedicated service. She raised two children and provided day-care for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home and was an avid reader and loved to play all types of games. Of most importance to Bonnie was her desire to spoil her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald Nelson, and their children, Kevin (Kira) Nelson of Chesapeake, VA and Judith Grey of New Berlin. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ethan and Wyatt Grey; her step-grandchildren; Kailey and Gabe Wagoner; brothers, Edwin (Debbie) Baker of Cortland, Chris (Jolynne) Baker of Freeville, and Eric Baker of Taylor; a sister, Carol Rogers, of Homer; a son-in-law, David Grey; her father-in-law, Harold Nelson, of Cortland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Friday, July 24, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at the Westview Cemetery, German, at 1:30 p.m. with Fred M.S.
