WILLIAM E. (BIG BILL) SHERMAN
PLYMOUTH – William E. (Big Bill) Sherman, 61, of Plymouth passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at his home.
Bill was born on January 29, 1954 in Elmira, NY the son of William N. and Bonnie L. Stringham Sherman. He has made his home in the Plymouth and Norwich area for most of his life except for a brief time when he lived in Texas and New Mexico where he worked as an oil well driller. Bill was an employee of the Chenango County Highway Dept. for 28 years working as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. In his spare time he enjoyed his fishing and was known to have a green thumb. While living in both Norwich and Plymouth he raised and cultivated plants of all kinds especially in Plymouth where he a built greenhouses to work from.
Bill is survived by his children Shylo Sherman and companion Bruce Bresee, William N. Sherman and Tabitha Kampe and Khyle T. Sherman and Andrea Pertilla all of Norwich, brothers George (Gary) Seymour and wife Karen of Smyrna, Fred (Skip) Seymour and wife Linda of North Norwich and his sister Ronnie Willis of Sherburne. Also surviving are his 17 grandchildren Collin Fern, Cierra Sherman, Elyssa Bresee, Dylan Bresee, Kiara Sherman, Caydence Sherman, Kayla Sherman, Cassius Sherman, Carter Sherman, Siennah Bresee, Hunter Sherman, William Sherman, Monica Bresee, Tyrus Sherman, Elyce Sherman, Mckenzie Kampe and Allysson Kampe, his daughter-in-law Catherine Sherman and the mother of his children Beverly Smith. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service for Bill will be held on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville will officiate.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m.
Following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends at the VFW Hall in Norwich for a time remembrance and sharing stories of Bill’s life.
