Virginia A. Richer, 83, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015, in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Virginia was born in Norwich on February 4, 1932 the daughter of Harold and Gertrude Warner Barr. She attended the Norwich schools and on November 21, 1953 in Norwich she married Robert C. Richer who passed away January 19, 2013. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Nothing brought her more joy than having a houseful of children and grandchildren at the old family homestead where she was born. She also enjoyed camping at her beloved Bowman Lake and colorful fall foliage in the Adirondaks.
Virginia is survived by her children Alan Richer and wife Kandice, Marc Richer and wife Rose, Ronald Richer and wife Janet all of Norwich, Christine Husted and husband Wayne of Sherburne and Cheryl Kerpez and husband Ken of Long Valley, NJ. Also surviving is her brother Roger Barr of Norwich, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren , 1 great great granddaughter, a son-in-law Frank Maiurano along with nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Robert, Virginia was predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Maiurano, and a sister Janet Miles.
A funeral service for Virginia will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Very Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.
