SHERBURNE – Earl J. Powell, 81, of Classic St., passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
He was born November 13, 1933 in Sherburne, a son of Everett and Marjorie Fuller Powell and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. As a young boy, he started venturing out in the world and became a farmer for many years. On August 3, 1954, Earl married Beverly Mack in Sherburne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1955-56. Later, he worked at the Sherburne-Earlville Central School until his retirement.
Earl was a member of the Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Sherburne.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Tammy Powell, Chad and Karen Powell, grandchildren, Addison, Luke, Brent and Ryan Powell; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Charles Crosten; brother and sister-in-law, William and Dee Powell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Symonds and Edith French, and brothers, Richard, Robert and Fred Powell.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1pm Monday, November 9, 2015 in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery, Rt. 12B, Sherburne.
Services had been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
