Janice E. Totten, 88, of Norwich, passed away comfortably on October 28, 2015 at her home.
She was born March 20, 1927, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of the late Oliver and Bernice (Smith) Knowlton. Janice married Avery Lee Totten on April 27, 1946, in Kalamazoo County, MI. He predeceased her in 1995.
Janice was a homemaker all of her life. She loved quilting and sewing in her spare time. Janice was an avid reader as well. She was very proud of the fact that she got to play basketball with the “guys” during WWII and always enjoyed telling the story at any family gathering.
Janice is survived by her children Jeffrey Totten and his wife Kimberly of Norwich; her daughters Karen Seaman and her husband John of Bonners Ferry, ID and Lynn Hissong of Whittier, CA; her grandchildren Catherine Totten, Collin Totten, Alishia Khanif, Catrina Handy, Melissa Freeman, David Seaman, Anna Gilbert, John Hissong, and Matthew Hissong. 6 great grandchildren also survive her.
She is also survived by her brother Robert Knowlton of Richland, MI, and her sister Edith Penny of Bullhead City, AZ.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Roger Hissong and her brothers Ralph Knowlton and James Knowlton.
At Janice’s request there will be no services. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Richland, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815 in memory of Janice E. Totten.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich.
