CATHERINE CINCOTTA
NORWICH – Catherine M. Cincotta, 94, of Norwich, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with family by her side.
Born February 12, 1921, in Utica, Catherine was the daughter of Paul and Helen (Salem) Harp. Her family moved to Sherburne where she entered the fourth grade. She graduated from Sherburne High School in 1939. Following her schooling, Catherine was a hairdresser in Sherburne.
On May 25, 1941, in St. Malachy’s Church, Catherine married Anthony F. Cincotta. Anthony died on November 25, 2000. Together, they moved to Norwich where Catherine worked for Norwich Pharmaceuticals and Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals. She retired from Procter & Gamble in 1983.
She enjoyed going to the Norwich YMCA at one time, as well as the Golden Agers. She also was fond of playing cards and bingo at Peacock Manor.
Catherine was a communicant of the Church of St. Bartholomew and a member of the Ave Maria Guild.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Tefft and her husband, Lloyd, of Norwich, and Kathleen Coles, of Mt. Upton; nine grandchildren, Robert (Wendy) Tefft, David Tefft, Robyn (Bill) Guyette, Brian (Kate) Tefft, Michael (Bernadette) Coles, Lisa (Keven) Meyer, Cory (Lynn) Coles, Terri Lynn Cincotta and Anthony Cincotta; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Alexa, Lindsey, Lara and Jillian Tefft, William Guyette, and Thomas, Cheyenne and Megan Coles; and one great-great-grandson, Trent Coles. Catherine is also survived by her brother, William Harp. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband, Catherine was predeceased by her son, Michael Cincotta, and four sisters, Mary Moore, Nora Black, Vivian Dape, and Jennie Deep.
Funeral services for Catherine will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
