WILMA CLARKE
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Wilma P. Clarke, 95, of South New Berlin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.
Born November 1, 1920 in Leonardsville, NY, Wilma was the daughter of the late Wallace and Minnie (Stanger) Clarke. She graduated from Leonardsville High School and was secretary to the late Everett Gilmour at NBT Bank in Norwich where she worked for 25 years. Prior to NBT, Wilma worked for 5 years in Washington, DC for the National Atomic Energy Commission as a civilian in the Army. She also volunteered at several Red Cross bloodmobiles.
Wilma was an active member of the South New Berlin First Baptist Church. She participated in the 3M’s Club of the church and was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Wilma was also a member of the Fortnightly Study Club of South New Berlin, the American Legion Auxiliary of Morris and was a Lioness in the Norwich Lions Club. She was also a member of the National Secretaries Association.
Wilma is survived by a niece, Helen Seyfried and her husband, Fred, of Cortland and two nephews and their wives, David and Laureen Clarke of Norwich and Dana and Teresa Clarke, of New Berlin. Several grandnieces and grandnephews also survive.
A memorial service for Wilma will be held in the spring of 2016 at the First Baptist Church in South New Berlin. Friends will be invited to call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin.
