ROSEMARY WALROD
Rosemary Robbins Walrod, 92, passed away November 28, 2015 at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville surrounded by family. Born in Otselic on April 4, 1923 to Gerald J. and Lena Miles Robbins, Rosemary graduated from Georgetown Central School in 1940. She completed coursework at Central City Business Institute, Syracuse and was employed as a secretary there during the 1940’s. Following her marriage, she returned to the family home in Otselic to raise her children. A dedicated volunteer, Rosemary served as a den mother, 4H leader, school trip chaperone and a member of a committee exploring school centralization. In recent years she organized the annual reunion at Georgetown High School and was a founding member of the Georgetown Historical Society. She had a passion for horses, covered bridges, daisies, nature, and travel but above all she loved, and was devoted to, her family.
Rosemary is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Walrod Leckie (Mark) of Williamsburg, VA and a son, Pete Walrod (Kathy) of Georgetown. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Sam Walrod (fiancée Donna) of Georgetown, Stacy Kingsley (Dan) of Cazenovia, Casey Stackhouse (Lytle) of Smyrna, Trevor Leckie (Katie) of Trumbull, CT, Meghan DeFoe (Nick) of Shelton, CT and Kendra Ohman (Brian) of Wake Forest, NC; along with nine great grandchildren and a niece. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Richard and Herbert and two nephews.
Her family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Crouse Community Center for their kind and compassionate care of our mother.
Per Rosemary’s wishes, a graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maple Grove Cemetery (Otselic) c/o Louise Perry, Sec/Treas., 2881 State Rte. 26, Georgetown, NY 13072.
