HAROLD W. SINES
(June 22, 1929 - December 3, 2015)
Harold W. Sines, 86, passed away December 3, 2015 at Chamberburg Hospital in Chambersburg, PA.
Harold was born on June 22, 1929 in Walton, the son of the late Bertis and Mary (Fuller) Sines.
On October 15,1949 he married Beverly Teehan and together raised 10 children.
Harold was self-employed all his life. He began as a dairy farmer and while farming, started hauling hay to farmers.
His hay business grew and he became a licensed bonded hay dealer, purchasing a few tractors and becoming owner/ operator of “Harold Sines Trucking”. Buying from the Finger Lakes area and selling to racetracks in the NYC area.
All of his kids have ridden with him one time or another. His CB handle was “Hayseed” or “Strawboss”. He enjoyed driving and keeping his trucks shining.
He enjoyed going to the Demolition Derby every year at the Walton Fair. He got to see many old faces there. Another yearly event, was the clambake with all his NY friends.
In 2008 he retired in North Carolina. He has enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, golf carting, taking his morning walks, taking care of his hummingbirds, meeting new friends, and just relaxing. He was a regular attendee of the NC State Fair Tractor Pulls.
He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Harold is survived by 6 Sons- Richard (Bonnie) Sines, Bainbridge; Randy (Chris) Sines, Jacksonville, FL; Rodney (SueAnn)Sines, Endicott; Robert (Penny) Sines, Greene; Roger (Chris) Sines, Smyrna; and Rudolph(Amber)Sines, Sidney Center; 4 – Daughters – Susan Thompson, Louisburg, NC; Nancy (Joe) Johnson, Mt. Upton; Betsey (Jerry) Gilbert, Louisburg, NC; and Diane (Helen) Sines, Asheville, NC; Grandchildren – Kelly, Dylan, Marissa, Daniel, Kaitlin, Hunter, Tamara, Gabrielle, Melanie, and Rudy, Siblings – Eleanor Fisher, Lloyd, and Earl Sines. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his brothers, Roland and Bruce, and sister, Doris, and Grandson, Richard.
Friends and relatives may call Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 11AM to 1PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held at 1PM with the Rev. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Road, Walton.
