LUCILLE C. HOGAN
SHERBURNE – Lucille Collins Hogan, 94, formerly of Sherburne, transitioned peacefully into the open arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica.
She was born January 5, 1921 in Utica, a daughter of Ernest C. and Mable Sherwood Collins. She was a graduate of Sherburne High School and attended Syracuse University with a major in art. On September 9, 1942, Lucille married Cornelius N. “Neil” Hogan in St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne. He predeceased her on November 27, 1966. For 25 years, Lucille was a teaching assistant in the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District until her retirement. During the summer months, she was a swimming instructor and life guard at the Sherburne village pool, where she taught many youngsters how to swim. She had a great life. She loved her jewelry, colorful scarves, matching hair bows, glamour shots, shopping, cowboy boots and line dancing.
Lucille attended the Columbus Community Church. She was a member of the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary in Sherburne.
Surviving are her children, Margie McMullen of Norwich; Bonnie and Dave Mowrey of Cazenovia; Ted and Nancy Hogan of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Robyn and Michael Fleming of Maineville, OH; Wendy Mowrey and Marc Tucker of Earlville; Kristine and Kevin Brown of Rochester; Carissa and George “Jake” Brown of Plymouth; Dixie and Steve Donlon of Waterville; and Colleen Marchant of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Michael, Corinne, Tyler, Cody, Loralee, Bo, Tyler, Jacob, Elise, Mitchel and Josephine.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 14, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7pm.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary, South Main St., Sherburne, NY, 13460.
