ELIZABETH A. “BETSY” YOUNGS
Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Youngs, 50, of Norwich passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2015, at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Betsy was born on May 20, 1965 in Suffern, NY, the daughter of the late Charles P. Conklin, and the late Esther "Betty" (DuVall) Youngs. Her early childhood years were spent in Sloatsburg, NY, before moving to Sherburne where she attended and graduated from the Sherburne-Earlville High School in 1983. Betsy has made her home in Norwich for over 23 years and worked as a teacher's aide at the Perry Browne School.
Betsy's greatest joy in life were her children. She was very proud of the way they have turned out, being wonderful adults. She was a selfless and caring person, treating anyone who came to her home as one of the family. Her faith has guided her in many ways throughout her life.
On August 4, 1984 in Smyrna, she married Duncan Youngs, who survives.
Besides her husband Duncan of Norwich, Betsy is survived by her children, Erin Mazei and husband Scott of Phoenixville, PA, Sarah Lashway and her husband Matt of Afton, Eric Youngs and her future daughter-in-law Britteny Adsit of Sherburne, and Zachariah Youngs of Norwich. Also surviving are her siblings: Mary Franklin and husband Daniel of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Phillip Conklin of Port St. Lucie, FL. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by a brother Kevin Conklin.
A funeral service for Betsy will be held on Wednesday, January 6, at Noon at the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich. The Rev. Brian Conover, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery of Whitestore.
Friends may call at the Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm.
