SHIRLEY SMITH
Shirley Smith, 81, a lifelong resident of Norwich, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the home of her son in Morrisville.
Shirley was born on November 18, 1932 in Norwich the daughter of Albert & Ruth (Giles) Watson. She spent her entire life in Norwich and was a 1953 graduate of the Norwich High School. Her working career spanned over thirty years with NBT where she was clerk of the safety deposit boxes and worked in the data processing dept.
Shirley was a quiet women who always took care of business. She previously was active with the Norwich Lions Club and Literacy Volunteers. On April 7, 1956 she married Brian E. Smith who passed away February 23, 2014.
Shirley is survived by her children; Sheryl Rowe and husband Robert , Susan Pope, David Smith all of Norwich, David’s wife Cindy of Texas and Douglas Smith and wife Sheron of Morrisville, her grandchildren Brian, Erica, Brad, Jeremy, Alyson, Bobbi Jo, Justin, Lisa, Erica, Josh, Albert, Wyatt and Jesse along with her 16 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild.
A funeral service for Shirley will be held on Monday, January 25, at 1:00 pm from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Smith, Shirley’s grandson, of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the No. Norwich Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 pm.
