Kelsey Ann Annese

KELSEY ANN ANNESE
GENESEO, NY – Kelsey Ann Annese, 21, a brilliant, beautiful, hard-working, sweet soul who could bring a smile to anyone around her, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at her college residence in Geneseo, New York.
The middle-child of three, Kelsey was born on March 26, 1994 in Webster, NY. After graduating third in a class of over 400 students from Webster Schroeder High School, Kelsey, despite having numerous, prestigious colleges to select from, chose her parents’ alma mater, SUNY Geneseo.
Kelsey was a senior majoring in Education/Spanish with a minor in psychology. Inspired by her parents’ teaching experiences, Kelsey chose to teach in an area her mother has long taught with the goal of making a real difference in her future students’ lives. The accolades Kelsey received while student teaching proved she was well on her way to fulfilling that goal.
Travel was one of the many pursuits Kelsey was able to enjoy during her short-life. She was not only able to travel to many areas of the United States and Canada, but Spain and Costa Rica as well, the latter two of which she lived during academic study abroad programs.
Athletics was another pursuit Kelsey enjoyed, most notably basketball. She was a two-time captain and MVP at Schroeder during high-school, All County for Monroe County and most recently, captain of her college team, the Geneseo Knights. She skipped playing in her freshman year to focus on academics but joined as a sophomore because she missed the game. As a player, Kelsey wore #32 for her team jersey, the same number her father wore as player on Geneseo’s mens’ basketball team.
Kelsey played her last game the night before she passed, one she greatly enjoyed as she did many things in life. She played hard, inspired her team, and matched her own career high. Kelsey, lived her life that way too, which is why she’ll be missed by so many people her brief life touched.
Kelsey is survived by her mother, Krista Annese and her fiancé, Jonathan Forward of Webster, NY; her father, Ronald Annese of River Vale, New Jersey; grandparents, Ron and Gail Annese of Norwich, NY; brother Dylan Annese and his fiancé Monica Jones of Greece N.Y, sister Grace Annese of Webster, NY; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the Falvo Funeral Home at 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Webster, NY on Friday, January 22nd from 2 to 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at the United Church of Christ, 570 Klem Road in Webster at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A private, internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Vs. Cancer Foundation at 3701 National Drive #100, Raleigh, NC 27612 or via https://team.vs-cancer.org/fundraise?fcid=591534 in Kelsey’s honor.
