FRED E. DEWEY
E. HAMILTON – Fred E. Dewey, 87, of E. Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at his home. He was born September 20, 1928 in Unadilla a son of the late Roy D. and Ruth Gibbons Dewey and received his education in local schools. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 31, 1966 in E. Hamilton he married the former Frances M. Robbins. Mr. Dewey worked for various farmers in the area, he owned and operated his own cattle hauling business for many years. He worked in the concrete industry and later retired from Garritt Smith Infirmary in Eaton. He loved to help others in need. Especially enjoyed helping others mowing lawns and snow blowing.
Surviving are his wife Frances; his children, Delbert and Jean Dewey of Sherburne; Dawn Fairchild of Norwich; Dale and Penny Dewey of Afton; Danny and Barbara Dewey of Norwich; step daughter, Sharon (James) Mc Ihenney of St. Augustine, FL; sister Gertrude Pierce Boyd of Oxford; brother and sister in law, Raymond and Helen Dewey of Norwich and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased, a son Fred Edward Dewey, step daughters Bonnie Harelick, Charlene Anthony, two sisters, Marie and Marguerite Dewey and three brothers Roy, Manuel and Alpha Dewey.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in the spring in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited and may call on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
