Luella Ann (Frair) Popkin, 79, passed away quietly in her sleep on March 10, 2016.
Luella was born in Oxford, NY on November 6, 1936 to Inez Primmar and William Frair. She married Samuel Popkin on August 19, 1956, and they had two daughters and one son. Bitten by the travel bug and a wonderful opportunity, Sam and Lue moved to Texas in 1980 and on to Arizona in 1982, where they made their life together in Tucson until Sam passed away in 1997. Luella moved back to her hometown of Oxford in 2003 to be closer to family and friends.
Luella had a wonderful sense of humor; she enjoyed travelling, reading, sewing, playing bingo and cats. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Luella's survivors include her daughter, Diane and her husband Ian Flax of Darlington, SC and their families; her daughter Elaine and her husband John Gilli, of Oxford, NY and their sons and their families in Dutchess County, NY; her son, Alan predeceased her in 2010. Her dear sister-in-law Hinda Popkin, and her family resides in Maryland. She is also survived by many family members and dear friends in the Chenango County area.
As per Lue's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Donations can be made in her name to Catholic Charities of Chenango County, or to the American Diabetes Association.
