BRENDA L. GRIFFITHS
SHERBURNE – Brenda L. Griffiths, 70, of State Highway 12, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her home.
She was born February 21, 1946 in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary Hovey Foster and was a graduate of Georgetown High School. On August 23, 1999, Brenda married Ralph E. Griffiths at her family homestead in Georgetown. Brenda had owned and operated the Riverside Hotel in Earlville for several years, and was also the Manager of the Sherburne Meadows Apartments. She later assisted Ralph as the office manager for his company, Safeguard BioMed Services, Inc. until retiring. Brenda’s greatest joy was the time spent with her family. She loved to host family gatherings and dinners. Her smile and happy personality were ever-present, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Brenda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne. She was dedicated to her community and actively devoted her time to many organizations. She was a member and Past President of the Sherburne Rotary Club; member and President of the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary, Sherburne; a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and God’s Bread distribution of the Sherburne Food Pantry. Brenda was also a league bowler for many years at Hi-Skor Lanes in Earlville.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; her children, Michael Foster and his companion Holly Pendergast of Madison; Michelle Buell and her companion, Vinnie Tompkins of Sherburne; Merri Jo Hortman of Macon, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Caz Markowski of West Eaton; her grandchildren, Anthony Buell (Daphne), Amber (Cory) Moon, Eric Foster (Desiree), Kayla (James) Bourne and Matthew Hortman; her great-grandchildren, Blake, Marley, Adriona, Memphis, Brent and Courtney; two aunts, Maxine McCarty of Sherburne and Dorothy Marsters of Norwich; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Bradley C. Foster in 1990.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Chapel St., Sherburne on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 12:30 pm.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St, Sherburne on Saturday April 9, from 9:30 am to 12:00 Noon.
Interment is at the convenience of her family.
