SHERBURNE – Margaret M. “Marg” Butler, 87, of East State St., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her home.
She was born June 25, 1928 in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of Edward F. and Margaret Doran Kompass. She was a graduate of St. Ceceila's High School and attended Caldwell College. On February 18, 1950, Margaret married William O. “Bill” Butler in Englewood, NJ. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marg devoted her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed several hobbies, including painting, knitting and the NY Yankees.
Marg was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne. She was a former member of the Sherburne Library Board.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Bill; her children, Maggie and David Cole of Maui, HI; Kathleen and Daniel Ingersoll of St. Mary’s City, MD; Susan Fredrick and her partner, Daniel Russell of Poolville; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward F. and Emily Kompass of Lincoln, VT; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Graveside services will be in the Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA at the convenience of her family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
