Belmont – Rev. Kenneth Edward Carr of 5 Norton Street and a former resident of West Eaton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 20, subsequent to an operation which revealed an inoperable condition. He was born on April 2, 1941 in Oneonta, a son of the late Kenneth and Jeannette Foster Carr. He married Edith Burch Utter on July 24, 1970 who predeceased him. He later married Anita Baird who survives.
Ken was a graduate of Hamilton High School, attended Bob Jones and Letourneau Universities, and graduated from Liberty University. He founded the Tri-County Septic Service. During the course of his lifetime, Ken was a pastor at Columbus Quarter Baptist Church, West Eaton Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Oswegatchie, and Second Baptist Church in Bowdenham, ME. In addition, he was a North County Association Baptist Association Moderator.
Ken was a very active fireman; he was Lieutenant of the Hamilton Fire department, and Captain and Assistant Chief and First Assistant Chief in Georgetown. In 1987 he was awarded a plaque as the Georgetown Fireman of the Year. He was also an EMT, serving as Georgetown Squad Chief. He was Georgetown Town Councilman for 12 years and Water Superintendent for four years. He was the author of the book entitled Preparing for my Departure.
Ken and Anita enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. They also traveled to Puerto Rico three times, St John’s in the Virgin Islands and Israel. While living in Belmont, Ken continued to preach occasionally, led Bible studies, and was president of the Board of Stewards at Knight’s Creek Evangelical Methodist Church in Scio.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five step children; Paula Utter of Haverhill MA, Robert Utter of Vernon, Chad (Amie) Boggs of St Petersburg, FL, the Drs. Brenda (Jim) Krygowski of St Petersberg, FL and Amy Boggs of Henrietta, four step grandchildren, one step great granddaughter, his brother, James Carr of Akron Ohio, and various nieces and nephews. Special mention should also be made of his ward, Ricardo Demetrio Casciano and family, of McAllen, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Knight’s Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, 2987 County Rd 9, Scio, NY, 14880. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore.
