Rexford Hurlburt Jr. , 66, of Chenango Forks, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Rexford Sr.and Madeline Hurlburt; nephew, Lance Bronson; father-in-law, Edwin Dunn; brother-in-law, William Orologio. Rex is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Derek and Kellee Hurlburt, Justin and Blythe Hurlburt, three grandchildren. Jason Watkins, Jeffrey Mihelcic, Berkley Thompson; 3 sisters and brother-in- law, Bonnie Bronson, Barbara Lewis and Jim Baker, Susan and Burnie Walling; mother-in-law, Ruth Dunn; sister-in-law, Martha Orologio; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rex was a long time teacher and administrator at many school districts in the area. He grew up on the family farm, played football at the University of Rhode Island, was a lifelong coach and an avid golfer. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Root Funeral Home. Rev. Peggi Eller will officiate. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Friday 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to North Fenton United Methodist Church 5984 NYS Route 79, Chenango Forks, New York 13746 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
