Stanley H. Krohn
New Berlin (Town of Columbus) – Stanley “Stan the Man” Krohn, 99, of New Berlin, formerly of Sherburne and Smyrna, passed away on Friday July 1, 2016.
He was born November 8, 1916 in Strafford, Ontario a son of Bjarna and Doris Booth Krohn and received his education in Long Island. He served his country in WW II in the US Air Force. On June 26, 1943 in St. James Episcopal Church in Elmhurst, NY he married the former Betty Golden. She predeceased him on October 22, 1998. Stanley worked for Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer Co. Hicksville and Hoffman Beverage’s, LI for over 25 years until his retirement in 1980. He also worked locally for Standard Brands, Sherburne and was an usher at sporting events at Colgate University for over 27 years. He will forever be known as “Stan the Man”.
Surviving are his children, Linda Winton of New Berlin; Daralynn Campbell of Smyrna; Suzanne C. Mirabito of Norwich; sister, Beverly Beiderbecke of Levittown, PA ; grandchildren, James and Cheryl Winton, Michael and Lana Winton, Michelle and Christopher Figger, Patrick and Katie Winton all of New Berlin; Robert and Karen Campbell, Dana Howard Campbell, Devon Campbell, Katie and Craig Harvey all of Smyrna; Christa Swarts, Brian and Robin Mirabito, Nicole Rene Cole all of Norwich; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Collin, Brandon, Gregory, Nathan, Megan, Jacob, Kailee, Hunter, Travis; Tyler, Tanner, Tegan, Alex, Mikayla, Colton; Takela, Tori, Hope, Michael, Jordon, Hunter Ethan, Ezra; 5 great-great- grandchildren, and best friends Don Vaugh, Ken Hayes and many others. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and a very special nephew who was like a son Ken (Teri) Ptasnick and his daughter Jessica, her fiancée Frank, and son little Kenny. He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter Taylor Rene Cole, two sons-in-law Francis Winton and Stephen Campbell, a sister Muriel Krohn, and brother Clifford Krohn.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 AM from the Chapel at Colgate University, Hamilton, NY.
