SHERBURNE – Mrs. Marcia Brown, 59, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away Sept. 3, 2009 at Fletcher –Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont after a short illness.
She was born in Albany on Dec. 19, 1949, the daughter of Lloyd and the late Margaret Van Leuven.
She is survived by her husband J.Wesley Bradley of Clearwater, Fla., her brothers Richard Van Leuven and his wife Mary of Potsdam, Donald Van Leuven and his wife Ann of Washington D.C, her sister Phyllis Britton and her husband Ron of Sherburne, her nephews Mark Van Leuven of Troy, Paul Van Leuven of Rensselaer, Matthew Taranto of Endicott and Michael Taranto of Tulsa, Ok.
Marcia was raised in Rensselaer and graduated from Van Rensselaer High School in 1967. She attended SUNY Plattsburh and graduated in 1971 with a BS in nursing. She married James Brown in Plattsburgh after her graduation. He passed away in November 2001. She spent the majority of her career as an emergency room nurse at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. She relocated to Clearwater Florida in 1996. In recent years she was employed as a traveling nurse at various hospitals in Texas, Washington, California, Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. At the time of her death she was working again at CVPH in Plattsburgh.
A memorial service to honor Marcia will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in New Berlin.
