Perley E. McChain passed away on September 28, 2016 at the age of 97. Perley was born in Peekskill, NY on October 30, 1918 to Ellsworth McChain and Gertrude Lent McChain. Upon finishing high school, he became a masonry contractor. In 1944, he entered the US Navy and served two years on the USS Columbia. He eventually moved to a farm in South New Berlin, NY were he farmed and continued his masonry profession there and later moved to Sherburne, NY. Perley married Doris Tomsic in 1987, who predeceased him. He is survived by his son, Edward McChain, of Urbanna, VA; his daughter, Evelyn Hammerle, of Deland, FL.; his grandsons, David McChain and Daniel Aldrich; his granddaughters, Carol Hunter and Karen Waldrup; his stepchildren, Tom Tomsic, Terry Tomsic, and Anita Sherman; also five great grandchildren. Perley attended First Baptist Church of Earlville. Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, October 7, at West Hill Cemetery in Sherburne.
