Jane A. Eccleston, 77, went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on December 3, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Lena Seaman; brother and sister-in-law, John (Bud) and Elizabeth (Betty) Seaman; brother, Richard Seaman; sister ,Betty Ann Wales; brother, Donald Seaman; brother and sister-in-law-David and Sarah Seaman; infant daughter, Deborah Eccleston; and granddaughters,Kayleigh Eccleston and Delaney Eccleston.
Jane was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Morris Eccleston; by her five children, James and Michele Eccleston, Dawn and Richard Smith, Melody and Steven Barton, Brian and Vickie Eccleston and Robin and Barbara Eccleston; and by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Barton, Amanda and Jason Boltus, Eric Smith, Jessica Smith, William Eccleston, Rose Eccleston and Thomas Eccleston, Nicholas Reid and Ian Reid. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Frances Seaman and Charles and Joan Seaman; sisters-in-law Dolores Seaman and Donna Seaman and brother-in-law, Wayne Wales.
Jane worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses over the years, including Briggs Lumber Company, the Town of Greene and Christman Motor Sales. She retired in 1993 after serving as the Chenango County Republican Election Commissioner. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida especially bowling and socializing with friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren and cherished spending time with her family. She was passionate about sports as many will remember hearing her cheer from the stands and she enjoyed going to the casino which she referred to as “going to work”.
Her family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice for their care and comfort at her home with a special thank you to Beverly, Dave and Pastor Bob.
The family will receive friends at Root Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
