NORTH NORWICH – Joyce R. Walker, 73, of State Highway 12, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, Johnson City.
She was born Oct. 25, 1935 in North Norwich, a daughter of Carl and Helen Tracy Richardson and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On Nov. 28, 1958, Joyce married Richard L. Walker in Sherburne. He predeceased her on Feb. 13, 2009. Joyce was a life long resident of North Norwich and had been a secretary for I.L. Richer in Sherburne until her retirement. For several years she and Richard spent the winter months in Winter Garden, Fla. and they loved traveling in their RV. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and bookkeeping.
Surviving are her sister, Shirley Hotaling of Sherburne; two nieces, Jane Beck and Julie Marshall; great nephews, Casey Marshall, Jeffrey Ernestine and Michael Jenne; her childhood friend, Mary Lou Law; and her close friends, Barb and Paul Thomsen.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Homes, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
