James Parrella

NORWICH – James C. Parrella, 50, formerly of Florida and a Norwich resident since this spring, passed away unexpectedly late Friday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2009 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Levittown in August of 1959, Jim was the son of Salvatore and Eileen Chapman Parrella. He attended school in Levittown prior to moving to Hillsboro, N.H., where he attended and graduated from high school. Jim was a self-employed carpenter throughout most of his life. He moved back to Long Island where he lived for a time, then resided in Florida for 14-15 years just before moving to Norwich in 2009. A self-described eclectic, he was a saver of everything. In his younger years, he enjoyed target shooting and was known as a good cook who made outstanding pizza. A devout Catholic, who was an avid supporter of Save The Children, Jim contributed toward the care of a special child.
Jim is survived by his son, Joseph Parrella of Boynton Beach, Fla.; by his parents, Salvatore and Eileen of Venice, Fla.; his sisters, Chrisanne Parrella and companion B.J. Jackson, and Susan Brissette and husband Chris, all of Norwich; and his brothers, Michael Parrella and wife Kathleen of Oakdale, L.I. and Daniel Parrella and wife Teresa of Norwich. Also surviving is the mother of his son, Gina Parrella of Boynton Beach; and Jim was the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass for Jim will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Please consider memorial contributions to Save The Children Foundation Inc., 54 Wilton Road, Westport, CT 06880; 1-800-728-3843.
