GENEVIEVE E. ‘JENNY’ DZUIBEK
Genevieve E. “Jenny” Dzuibek, 92, passed away on April 5, 2017, at her home in Norwich. She was born on July 13, 1924 in Lanesboro, PA to the late Charles and Inza Welch. Jenny grew up in Gilbertsville, NY where she went to school. In 1948, she married Max Dzuibek and they shared 36 years together until his passing in 1984. Jenny was an avid gardener who grew flowers in her yard every year. She also was gifted at knitting, making quilts and afghans for her family. She was a lover of all animals, especially cats and dogs. Over the years, Jenny worked at the Norwich Knitting Mill, Norwich Shoe Factory and Arrow Laundry until her retirement. She was also known for selling apples from her brother’s orchard, and being the neighborhood aunt to numerous children. Her favorite reply to many questions was W.A.S., which stood for “wait and see”. On her 80th birthday, Jenny fulfilled a life-long dream of going for a ride on a motorcycle and encouraged the operator to ride faster. Along with her parents and husband, Jenny was predeceased by her brothers and sisters in law, Carl Welch, David and Liz Welch, Linda and Wesley Welch, Gene and Betty Welch; her sister and brother in law, Lauwanda and Jack Hulbert; and her son in law, Newell Chase. She is survived by her daughter, Donalda Chase; her grandchildren, Max and Brenda Law, Don and Cindy Law, Douglas Smith, and Betty Lou and James Barron; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. At Jenny’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery with a graveside service to be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich.
