Alan L. Harrison, 66, of Norwich, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Harrison; his children, Joseph and Christina Harrison; Robin Tubbs; and Alana McCann and Andy Clement; his grandchildren, Kalliann Harrison, Kody Harrison, Cassidy Davern, Kristin Tubbs, Matt Tubbs, Joshua Vitarius, Alex McCann, Bryanne McCann, and Elizabeth McCann; his great-grandchildren, Nala Jenkins, and Xavier Ray; his father, Donald Harrison; his brother in law, Ron Church and Nancy Bagnell; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruby Harrison; his father and mother in law, Richard Sr. and Bessie Church; and his brother in law, Richard Church, Jr. Alan was born in Springville, NY on May 29, 1950 and grew up in Arcade and Buffalo before settling in the Sherburne and Norwich area. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Sherburne School for a time and the Norwich and Sidney Pennysaver for many years until his retirement in the 1990’s. Alan was a man who was known to be very helpful to others, always willing to give of his time before thinking of himself. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, and also the races on weekends. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. A graveside service for Alan will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 1st, at West Hill Cemetery in Sherburne with Pastor Brian Conover officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to R. J. Fahy Funeral Home in Norwich.
