DALE F. LARSEN
Dale F. Larsen passed away peacefully in her sleep in Binghamton NY on May 13, 2017 after a long battle with kidney disease. She was a resident of Bridgewater Nursing Home where she received excellent care and dialysis for many years.
Dale was born on December 10, 1946 in Worcester, MA. She was the first born of seven children to William P and Evalyn F (Paul) Wheeler.
Dale was predeceased by her father, William P. Wheeler and beloved sister, Robin L. Hitt. She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Maria Andruschenko and son-in law, Jeff Thornhill of Nashville, TN, mother, Evalyn F Wheeler of Norwich, NY, brother, Gary Wheeler and sister-in-law, Ann Wheeler of Norwich, NY, sister, Lynne Walker of Jacksonville, NC, brother-in-law, Doug Hitt, sister, Dawn Wheeler and brother-in-law, JR Leonhart of Newark, CA, sister, Kristin Wheeler of Norwich, NY and brother, Joel Wheeler and sister-in-law, Kerin Wheeler of Santa Maria, CA. She was also survived by twelve nieces and nephews and their families.
Dale moved with her family to Oxford, NY in 1957, where she graduated from Oxford Academy in 1964.
Dale went to work at Grossinger’s Catskill resort after high school where she met Nicholas Larsen. The couple married on October 16, 1968 and made a home in Las Vegas, NV - welcoming their daughter, Maria to their little family shortly thereafter. She was the first grandchild of the Wheeler family. When Dale and Nick parted ways, Dale relocated back to NY and made a life for herself in Binghamton.
Dale had a love of music. If you visited Dale you likely were welcomed by sounds coming from her turn table as she sang along to greats such as: Frank Sinatra, Neil Sedaka, The Carpenters, Captain & Tennille, or Michael Buble, to name a few. She was a talented pianist and had a lovely voice for singing. That love was passed along to her many nieces and nephews!
Family was extremely important to Dale and she rarely missed a family reunion which is a yearly July tradition. She always looked forward to meeting new additions to her family, either by marriage or birth.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday May 16th at Riverview Cemetery in Oxford, NY at 9:00am to celebrate her life. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.behefuneralhome.com.
