ROBERT P. ATWATER
Robert P. Atwater, 65, of North Port, Florida, passed away May 8, 2017 in Sarasota, Florida. Bob was born on August 16, 1951 in Norwich the son of Robert T. and Dorothy (Preston) Atwater. He grew up in Sherburne where he attended the Sherburne- Earlville High School graduating with the Class of 1969. Following graduation he attended Delhi Tech for a brief period of time.
Bob’s career was in law enforcement. He was employed by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office from April 1974 until his retirement as Lieutenant in September of 1993. He also was the recipient of several letters of appreciation and commendations during his career.
In his leisure time Bob enjoyed riding motor cycle, camping in the Adirondacks and music. He had played keyboard in the Bethnel Green Band.
Bob is survived by his sister Connie Smith and good friend Thomas Cervenka, his friend Brent Chomyszak of FL and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Scott Atwater and Ruth Atwater Bigelow.
Private services for Bob were held in Florida.
