GORDON MELVILLE ROSE
Gordon Melville Rose, 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7th with his family by his side. He was born in Binghamton to Clifford and Helena Rose. Gordon graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in BioChemistry. It was there he met the love of his life, wife of 58 years, Mary Evalena Hogue. After college, they made a home in Norwich where Gordon was employed with Norwich Eaton Pharmaceutical (now Procter and Gamble) for over 30 years. His passions were nature, photography, woodworking, music, reading and science. He was a member of Toastmasters, Bullthistle Model Railroad Society, United Church of Christ First Congregational, and Endwell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being at home and spending time with family. Gordon is survived by his wife, Mary H. Rose, children; Linda Rose Chearmonte (Phil), Judy Rose Natoli (Tom), Edward Rose (Jennifer), and grandchildren; Michael, PJ, Rose, Anthony, sister; Sandy Van Dunk and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grandson Gordon Joseph Chearmonte, siblings; Prudence Smith, Roland Rose, Phyllis Seeley, and Kay Geer. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 10th at 4pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main Street Johnson City. The family will receive friends in Saturday at 3pm until the time of the service. Burial at a future date in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich. Those who wish to honor his memory may make a donation to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
