CLIFFORD D. ACKLEY
Clifford D. Ackley formerly of Norwich passed away at his home in Mesa, Arizona on June 23, 2017. Clifford was born on August 2, 1946 the son of Dorothy and Hartley Ackley. He grew up in Norwich and attended the Norwich Schools where he was a member of the football, bowling and golf teams and graduated with the Class of 1964. Following graduation he went to work for Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals. In 1971 he married Colleen Champlin. He later worked as a plant manager for Bennett Ireland in Norwich until it closed. For the past 15 years he worked as a Court Baliff for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in Arizona.
Cliff was an avid sports fan and for 26 years was a coach for the Norwich Pop Warner football team. He continued to follow his Cleveland Browns, Syracuse football and basketball. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, where he was unusually lucky, and watching his grandchildren grow and excel.
Cliff was predeceased by his father Hartley, his sister Cynthia and his brother Edward. He was survived by his mother Dorothy (who passed away within 24 hours of her son), his wife Colleen, his daughters Courtney (Brian) Rathell, Caitlin Ackley and his sister Joan Swertfager. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren Bowen Ackley, Randall Taylor, Miles, Marin, Madeline, Mason and Maddox Rathell.
A Celebration of Cliff’s life will be celebrated at the convenience of the family.
