Beulah and Charlie met in 1941 while both were working at the Norwich Knitting Mill. During Charlie’s Army Air Corp enlistment, Beulah was a motor pool driver in the southwest during WWll. Following the war, they settled on a dairy farm on West Hill, Sherburne where her focus became raising a family. After her children graduated high school, she was employed by the Sherburne School system as a cafeteria cook until retiring in May 1992 as the head cook.

For Beulah, the kitchen was her primary domain though she enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends. She was an avid newspaper and magazine reader, as well as keeping a daily journal for most of her life. She was an enthusiastic wild bird watcher and passionate caretaker of her and Charlie’s landscape, yard and gardens. Some of the loves of her life included parakeets, Siamese cats, Collies and growing African violets. A lesser known fact, she was an aspiring violinist in her youth. She was very attentive to those around her and always acknowledged everyone’s birthday and anniversary with cards. One of her favorite places was her and Charlie’s slice of heaven in the Adirondacks, called Camp Lil Bit, a loving nickname given Beulah by Charlie.
