MELBA E. JENNE
SHERBURNE – Melba E. Jenne, 64, of East Hill Rd., passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born March 8, 1953 in Deposit, NY, a daughter of Percy and Beatrice Lamoreax Woodford. She was a graduate of Deposit Central High School and Morrisville State College. On June 7, 1975, Melba married James M. Jenne in the McClure United Methodist Church. She enjoyed tatting, crafting, sewing and flower arranging. At one time, she sold bedding plants, but first and foremost, she was a farmer’s wife who assisted her husband in the operation of their dairy farm and lovingly raised her family.
Melba was a very active member of the Christian Baptist Church in Sherburne. She was a member and secretary of the Sherburne Grange #1400, and was the Chenango County Grange chaplain.
Surviving are her husband, James; her children, Suzan and Curtis Kenyon of Springbrook Township, PA; Carolina and James Realey of Sherburne; and Matthew Jenne of Sherburne; her beloved grandchildren, Derrick, Tracy and Caleb Kenyon; sisters, Marjorie Hammond, Myrtle Woodford, Mary (Dean) Nelson, Mildred Carberry, Muriel Woodford, and Maxine Cramer; brothers Stanley (Alice) Woodford, Donald (Barbara) Woodford, Daniel (Cassie) Woodford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Edwin J. Jenne; a brother, Raymond Woodford, and a sister, Martha Malmstrom.
Friends were invited to call at the Christian Baptist Church, Albro Rd., Sherburne on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 11am to 1pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at 1pm.
Interment is private at the convenience of her family.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Christian Baptist Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
