Kathryn Thornton Boname Tefft


Kathryn Thornton Boname Tefft, 72, of South Plymouth passed away Friday afternoon, October 13, 2017, at home with her daughter by her side.
Kathy was born on August 25, 1945 in Norwich the daughter of Hubert and Nancy (Hills) Thornton. She grew up in the area and was a 1962 graduate of the Norwich High School. In 1966 she gained employment with the Norwich Shoe Co. before moving to Las Vegas in 1990. While making her home in Las Vega she worked for Reeco and subsequently for the Kiewit Co. a nuclear waste company which was in charge of burying nuclear waste. In 1997 she moved to Iowa for a brief period of time before coming back home in June of 1999. Once home she worked for Circulars Unlimited and in 2003 went to work for the Broome County Surrogates Court System from which she retired in 2009.
Kathy and her daughter enjoyed a very special relationship, not only were they mother and daughter, they were best friends. Kathy’s laugh was infectious and for those of you who were fortunate to have enjoyed it you know what we mean. She once bowled and bowled in 3 leagues at the same time. Kathy was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church for which she played the piano for many years. She absolutely loved Las Vegas, enjoyed watching golf and talking sports with her grandson, liked to travel with her friends, loved Christmas, enjoyed motorcycles, dancing and going to the fair and riding each and every ride. Simply put Kathy enjoyed having fun.
Kathy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and James Mlodzinski of Vernon, CT, brother Howard (Judy) Thornton, grandsons Mat Mlodzinski, David (Shannon) Mlodzinski, Steven Mlodzinski and great grandchildren Ashlyn, Eric, and Owen. Also surviving are a niece, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, special cousins and a multitude of friends. She is predeceased by her former husband, Bernard Boname.
A funeral service for Kathy will be held on Thursday at 7:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Thanna Howell will officiate. Interment will be in the South Side Cemetery of Plymouth.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
