NORTH NORWICH – Clyde Young, 93, formerly of the Sherburne/North Norwich area, passed away on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2009 in the Community Memorial Hospital of Hamilton, with his family by his side.
Born in Munnsville in October of 1916, the son of Otto and Gladys Blair Young, Clyde grew up and received his schooling in the Madison area. He was an employee of the Cossitt Motor Express for many years, and had also operated dairy farms in Randallsville, Plymouth, and North Norwich. Clyde operated an auction house in North Norwich, then moved on to become a cattle dealer and a real estate broker. Lastly, he owned and operated Young’s Produce in North Norwich for many years. On June 4, 1930, Clyde married Lena Riggall Young, who predeceased him in 1974. On Dec. 7, 1974, he married Janette “Nettie” Graham Young, who predeceased him on June 6, 2009.
Clyde is survived by his children and their spouses: Paul and Margaret Young of New Berlin, Jerry Young of Laurel, Del., William and Carol Young of South Plymouth, David and Linda Young of Oneonta, and Frenda Papelino and fiancé Don Hadlock. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth Wallace, and his brother, Stanley Young, both of Hamilton; 21 grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, as well as Nettie Young’s family. Clyde was predeceased by several sons: Richard “Dick,” James, Roger, and Roy Young; his sister, Betty Winterhalt; and brothers Melvin, Charles, Carter and Otto Young.
Funeral services for Clyde will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev George Hanley, Clyde’s grandson, will officiate. Interment will be in the Earlville Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
