Frederica M. (Toots) (Tootsie) Steward, 92, of Norwich passed away Sunday evening, October 22, 2017, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.
Frederica was born on January 15, 1925 in Codesia, NY the daughter of Henry and Rosa (Schraft) Crook. At the age of 15 she moved with her family to the Norwich area where she continued to make her home. Frederica gained employment with the Knitting Mill and subsequently Champion Product where she worked as an Inspector retiring in 1987 after 37 ½ years of service. She enjoyed camping trips with her husband until his passing. For the past several years she has made her home with her daughter, Judy Gray.
On February 23, 1946 in Norwich she married Everett Steward who passed away September 11, 1987.
Frederica is survived by her daughter Judy Gray of Oxford , sisters Bernice Stephens… of Hancock and Rena Jackson of Beaver Meadow, her grandchildren Michael Steward, Tammi May, Jessica Steward, Chad Steward, Shealyn Baker Webb and Benjamin Baker. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Shanee’, Ian, Trisdyn, Aidan and Lily along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband Everett, Frederica was predeceased by 2 sons Everett and Larry, sister Dorothy Morack and grandson Shane Baker.
A funeral service for Frederica will be held on Friday at Noon from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Reese, Pastor of the Columbus Community Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
