Ruth L. Jenne, 88, of Sherburne, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born January 5, 1929 in Hamilton, NY a daughter of Winifred and Olive Finch Sutherland. Following her high school graduation, she attended Albany College. Ruth had been married to Gordon V. Jenne who died in 1999. Ruth had assisted Gordon in the operation of their dairy farm, and later worked at McLaughlin’s in Norwich. She retired from the Chenango County Department of Social Services where she had been a caseworker. Ruth enjoyed traveling, attending Hospice events, and was an active quilter and a member of local quilting guilds. She was a huge fan of Syracuse University sports, especially basketball. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are her children, Tim (Darlene) Jenne of FL; Neil Jenne of Sherburne, Steven Jenne of FL; Kathy Philbrick of SC; Andy (Nancy) Jenne of AZ; grandchildren, Thomas (Neomi) Jenne, Christina (Matt) Dusthimer, Allison, LeAnn and Jacob Jenne, Stacy (Chad) Wilcox and Danielle (James) Harris; Shawn, Heather, Tracy, David, Beth and Heidi Hemsley, Evan and Kayla Jenne, Randy and Christopher (Sandra) Davis; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ceylon “Teter” Sutherland of DeRuyter; Scott Sutherland of Virginia Beach; and John “Johnny” Sutherland of DeRuyter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Norman Jenne; grandchildren, Dennis and Trisha Jenne; two daughters-in-law, Betty and Karin Jenne; and three brothers, Earl, David and Jerry Sutherland.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 12 to 2pm prior to the service.
