William Schraft


NORWICH – William Eric Schraft, 47, of State Highway 23, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.
Born March 4, 1962 in Norwich, Bill was the son of Ernest F. and Shelvy (Brooker) Schraft. He graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1980 and later from Morrisville College, earning his Associate’s Degree.
Bill was the head janitor at the Norwich Middle School.
Bill was an avid fan of many sports including fantasy football and had an extensive collection of baseball cards. He was also a member of Canasawacta Country Club where he played many rounds of golf with his friends. His greatest love however, was his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Bill is survived by his parents, Ernest F. and Shelvy Schraft, of Norwich; his brother, Ernest F. Schraft Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Smyrna and his sister, Cathy Carpenter and her husband, Wayne, of Norwich; his beloved nieces and nephews, Zachary and Cody Schraft, Stacey Jenne and Kristin and Stephanie Carpenter; his grandnephews, Carter Schraft and David Button; and his grandniece, Aydrielle Schraft.  Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
