Richard R. Fuller, 73, of Mt. Upton passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, with his beloved family by his side.
Dick was born in Catskill, NY on July 29, 1944 the third son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Timm) Fuller. Dick moved to Mt. Upton in his early teens where he married his wife Charlotte Smith in September of 1962. Together they built a loving family and home where he enjoyed mowing his lawn and cooking out with his family and friends.
Dick was employed at Victory Markets for 33 years as a truck driver and served as union steward with teamsters for several years. During his time he also ran D&J Backhoe with Jim Percival. He also served as Assistant Fire Chief for Borden Hose Fire Dept.
Always willing to lend a hand, Dick was always the first person there to help with anything from carpentry to rebuilding tractors. Anyone that knew Dick knew that all they had to do was ask and he would be right there to help. After retiring his hobbies included collecting and restoring John Deere Tractors and was a member of the Tired Iron Tractor Club. He took great pride maintaining the home that he had built on “Family Hill”. He enjoyed mentoring his youngest son and grandson in developing and expanding Fuller Paving. He spent many mornings having coffee and chatting with longtime friend Rodney Schultes. He enjoyed early morning coffee and breakfast trips with his brother Ray Fuller who was always there for him when needed. His family was always the most important and whenever someone stopped by to visit they were welcomed as family and that’s why so many considered him as a father figure and called him “Dad”.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Charlotte of 55 years, 2 sons: Michael Fuller, Thomas Fuller and significant other Bridget Winn of Mt. Upton, 2 daughters: Nancy Fuller and significant other Peter Greeley of Unadilla and Crystal Jipson and husband Brian of Mt. Upton, 5 grandchildren who were “pops” world: Nathan Fuller and significant other Sarah Baker, Devin Fuller, Kaitlyn Fuller, Rebecca Fuller and Natalie Jipson. Also surviving are 3 brothers: Ray, Ronnie and Randy and 3 sisters Laura, Lorraine and Linda as well as sister-in-law Pat Fuller. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Dick was predeceased by one grandson Christopher Fuller, a brother Robert Fuller and mother-in-law Mary Smith whom he was very fond of.
