Frances H. Winton, 83, of Classic St., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the UHS/Chenango Memorial Residential Healthcare Facility in Norwich.
She was born November 29, 1934 in Sherburne, a daughter of Floyd D. and Elsie M. Camp Larcom. She received her early education in Sherburne schools and later in life she proudly received her G.E.D. On September 10, 1950, Fran married Benny E. Winton in Sherburne. He predeceased her on February 1, 1998. Fran had worked at Simmonds Precision (B.F. Goodrich) in Norwich for 22 years, 8 months and 16 days until retiring. Throughout the years, she was employed by various companies among them being T.A.C.O. in Sherburne and the Norwich Shoe Company. After retirement, she held part-time positions, but most recently volunteered many, many hours at the Chenango Memorial Extended Care Facility. Her smile, her laughter, her sense of humor were infectious and brightened the residents’ days. Fran was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who had a smile that would light up the room. She was a gracious hostess who loved to feed and mother everyone who came to visit. Shopping was her passion; her colorful outfits and coordinated jewelry are testament to this! Fran’s world were family and friends; precious memories made at Christmas time, making cookies with the grandchildren. Her sugar cookies were the best ever!
She was a member of the Columbus Community Church and the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are her children, Floyd and Linda Winton of S. Plymouth; Barbara and Paul Diamond of Earlville; Michael Winton of Largo, FL; Cindy and Dorrance Burnett of Sherburne; Julie Murray and her fiancée Trish Lockwood of Sherburne; a sister, Ella Bates of Plymouth; grandchildren Shawn and Lynette Murray of Knoxboro; Kyle Winton and Melissa Pritchard of Solvay; Amanda Winton and fiancée Christina Power of N. Syracuse, great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Isabella, Shawn, Martin, Keigan, Andriana, Sage and Jade; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends and companions.
